As part of the Student Challenges (ŠI:UM) project tasks, students in interdisciplinary teams and under the guidance of a teaching and working mentor study various creative and innovative solutions to the challenges of the (non-)economy sector in the regional/local environment. Students are acquiring additional knowledge, competencies, and practical experience already during their studies and thus enhancing their possibilities for a smoother transition to the labour market.

The underlying purpose is to provide conditions and environments for active participation of students in real working environments with the aim of achieving goals of long-term cooperation and integration of higher education knowledge with stakeholders from the economy and other organizations, the possibility of gaining concrete, practical experience of involved students and consequently promotion and development of creativity, entrepreneurship and other, awareness of the needs and expectations of the market and the environment as well as providing opportunities for further cooperation after completing studies.

Achieved common goal of the project task and consequently the given solution in the initial phase of the provided realistic challenge of a potential employer. In an interdisciplinary group of 8 people, students are trying to solve a realistic challenge in the period of 4 months under the mentorship on the side of the employer and the teaching mentor. The final outcome is publicly presented and represents a finished whole project task of one semester.
